A Festive Fourth at Carnes Crossroads

June 30th, 2023

The Lowcountry loves the Fourth of July! Carnes Crossroads, as well as Goose Creek and the greater Charleston area, have endless opportunities to keep you rockin’ in the free world from the morning parades to the evening fireworks. How will you and yours celebrate Independence Day?

Lowcountry History is the Country’s History

We love the USA at Carnes Crossroads, and it makes sense considering our neck of the woods is a crucial region in American history.

When the British army sought to take colonial port cities, Charleston was an early target. The South Carolina soldiers successfully fought them off, in part thanks to fortification from palmetto tree logs, hence South Carolina’s nickname “The Palmetto State.”

All around us are historic sites, including the Coosawhatchie and Salkehatchie Rivers where key Revolutionary War battles took place, plus homesteads where British and American troops set up camp.

If you feel moved to immerse yourself in U.S. history on the Fourth, or any time, take a day trip to one of many historic locations near Carnes Crossroads. Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter are two forts that played an important role in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War II. Those who take a walk down the Lowcountry Revolutionary Trail will follow the footsteps of a South Carolina soldier in America’s fight for freedom.

Salute to Local Heroes

The Carnes Crossroads family wants to extend a special thank you today to the men and women of the U.S. military for keeping our nation safe and protecting our freedom.

We are honored to share this area with two military bases, Joint Base Charleston and NWS Charleston, as well as the Charleston Naval Hospital, and are proud to be the home of numerous military personnel and their families.

We’re able to live in this vibrant community thanks to the sacrifices of active duty and reserve service members, as well as veterans. Carnes Crossroads wishes you a very special Independence Day to you and your loved ones.
