Getting Out and About at Carnes this Fall
September 1st, 2020
It’s been more than six months since we had to cancel our planned events for the year, but we’re happy to see residents organizing some smaller outdoor and socially distanced events this season.
Monthly resident happy hour events, long a tradition at Carnes, resumed this month with a new format. First Saturday Socials take place the first Saturday of the month at the Green Barn. This BYOB event is open to residents of all ages, and it’s a great way to meet neighbors and make new friends. Residents bring their beverage of choice and a dish to share, and games and activities keep the kids entertained while the grownups socialize.
Food Truck Fridays also returned this month, offering a once weekly opportunity for residents to mix up their dining at home routine. Several food trucks will set up behind the Green Barn each Friday evening throughout the fall from 5-7 pm, offering a mix of savory and sweet options. Each week’s featured vendors can be viewed on the Carnes Crossroads Facebook page.
Next month, we’re looking forward to the return of our Thanksgiving Day 5K! We’ve once again partnered with Fleet Feet to serve as the host site for the renamed “Huffin’ for the Stuffin’ 5K.” This fun-filled Thanksgiving day race is open to all, but advance registration is required. This year’s format will reflect guidelines to help keep people safe from COVID-19. Dress in your most festive Thanksgiving attire and participate in this fun and refreshing walk or run along the trails and through the neighborhoods at Carnes. Click here to register.
With the incredible fall weather we’ve been enjoying, it’s the perfect time to get outside and explore. If you can’t join us for these events, you can still come by and check out the neighborhoods. Come take a walk on our trails and along our sidewalks and discover what’s new at Carnes Crossroads!
