Meet One of the First Families at Carnes Crossroads!

November 19th, 2013

MoraFamily2Jesus Mora, a mason, and his wife Rosa moved into their new home in St. Thomas Park last month. As owners of a contracting business that installs the foundations, stucco and brick on newly built homes throughout Charleston, the Moras are familiar with the work that goes into building quality homes in the Lowcountry.

“We’ve done work for many of the new home builders in the area, and we’ve gotten to learn about the quality and service they offer,” says Rosa.

This “insider” knowledge of the local homebuilding industry is what ultimately drew the Moras to Carnes Crossroads and their new David Weekley home.

“David Weekley builds quality homes, and they focus on building in successful new home communities,” says Jesus. “Knowing that they were investing in Carnes Crossroads made us confident about buying a home here.”

With just one of their five children living at home, the Moras will soon be “empty nesters” and are taking advantage of the opportunity to downsize. But with five grandchildren – and two more on the way – they still needed plenty of space for visitors and guests. Their four-bedroom, three and a half bath home at Carnes Crossroads, conveniently located within the growing Summerville and Goose Creek area of Charleston, was the perfect layout and offered convenient proximity to where the bulk of their job sites will be located in the coming years.

The Moras first came to Charleston from Atlanta in 1996 as home construction on Daniel Island was just getting underway. Among the first homes Jesus worked on were the homes in the first neighborhood to be developed on the island. He marvels at how much the community has matured since those early days, and sees the same potential at Carnes Crossroads.

“The streets on Daniel Island look great, with large trees and mature landscaping,” he says, looking down his own street at Carnes Crossroads. “Soon, we will see that same thing happening here.”
