Love and Support for our Neighbors in Charleston

June 24th, 2015

On June 17, 2015 our neighbors in downtown Charleston experienced a soul-shattering event. The tragic shooting at downtown Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church rocked the greater Charleston community – along with the entire nation – to its core.

During times of grief and sorrow strong communities have a way of pulling together to show their love and support. In the wake of this tragedy, the Summerville Chamber has initiated a book of condolences for the members of the community to sign in an offering of our love and support. The book will be hosted by several local business, starting Tuesday, June 23 through Sunday, June 28. Residents of Summerville and surrounding communities can offer their condolences and words of comfort to the victim’s families, members of Mother Emmanuel AME Church and the Charleston community as a whole by visiting one of the locations and signing the book.

The book will eventually be delivered to Mayor Riley’s office downtown Charleston, where it will be displayed and shared with the people of Charleston.
