Meet Christopher Burtt – The New Agrihood Farm Director at Carnes Crossroads!

The cooler September temperatures welcomed Christoper Burtt  to Carnes Crossroads as the Agrihood’s first official Farm Director.  In this role, Christopher will oversee the 12+ acres of farm, and farm store & barn currently under construction.

Christopher has over a decade experience in the Horticulture industry. He first began his career with Landscaping Design and Nursery production where he worked for five years before moving to vegetable research where his focus was on vegetable production in the Coastal region of South Carolina. Finally, he spent the past five years in his most recent role was with Clemson Cooperative Extension as the Urban Horticulture Extension Agent for the Tri-county area (Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester). Within this role is where he found his passion for education and public outreach.

Christopher is excited for this opportunity to work within the community and to promote healthy eating and a better understanding of where our food comes from. He is thrilled to be able to grow and provide high quality produce within the community. His enthusiasm and appreciation for all things growing will hopefully be a positive addition to the team.

Christopher enjoys spending his free time with his family as well as enjoying anything outdoors. He is also an ardent reader but also loves camping or kayaking. He is an avid gardener and enjoys discussing anything plant related.
